WelcomeRectorNEW1

This website is the Home of East Bergholt & Brantham Churches. This benefice has two beautiful churches, St Mary the Virgin in East Bergholt and St Michael the Archangel in Brantham. They are busy places of worship and in their different ways provide a tranquil place for reflection and an atmospheric place for celebration and worship. The churches are open every day and anyone is welcome at any of our services.

We are part of the Church of England which means our people have a wide range of views on everything! We recognise we are not all right all of the time and are willing to work closely together to share our experiences of God and journey together over the hard places. Here you will find someone to listen, friendship, laughter and, we pray, new insight into God’s love for you. We long for everyone to grow spiritually and experience the glory of God. We offer regular courses for those who are just beginning to explore the idea of faith in God. Children are very welcome at our services, though there are some services that are more suited to families than others.

We look forward to meeting you. When Jesus walked out of the pages of the Bible into my life a whole new world opened up for me. I pray this will happen for you too.

BeneficePrayer

Heavenly Father,

we pray for the residents of East Bergholt and Brantham,
that they may come to know your generous and enfolding love.
We also pray for ourselves, that we may play our part in your mission to help all people,
especially those around us, to come to know your love and grace.
We pray this through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen

THY KINGDOM COME

An Ecumenical Prayer initiative between Ascension Day and Pentecost. Archbishop Justin has issued a call to prayer.

The three aims are:

-To join in prayer with the whole family of God the Father

-To pray for the empowering of God the Holy Spirit

-That we may be effective witnesses to God the Son, Jesus Christ.

It’s not complicated – the Archbishop’s invitation is simply asking people to pray in whatever way they want, with whoever they want and wherever they can, that others might know Jesus Christ. The daily pocket prayer booklet will be available in both our churches and can also be accessed from the Thy Kingdom Come website.

St Mary’s has been running a Toddler Group for about 4 years now.  It has grown in number and strength and is now an established part of our church calendar.  We meet every fortnight on a Friday morning between 9.30 – 11.30 am.  The play is informal.  There are lots of toys, puzzles, and books and also lots of noise!!!  We meet in the West End of the church, which is carpeted and very warm during the winter months.  We offer tea and coffee to mums/dads and carers and at 10.30 the children have a healthy snack and drink after a very short prayer.

We have a small team of regular helpers – Liz, Chris, Carrie, Janet and June, but from time to time we also have other volunteers. If you would like to come along, please contact Liz Digby on 01473 312281.
